Derek oversees all aspects of the business while giving particular consideration to health & safety, financial and contractual matters, strategic direction and attention to detail.
He gained qualifications in mechanical engineering and operated a wide range of construction plant before moving into a supervisory role and subsequently becoming the Managing Director while still relatively young. He has managed and delivered many complex and challenging civil engineering projects over the years, and this diverse experience forms a comprehensive understanding of all areas of the business.
He holds numerous certificates, including an SMSTS certificate, CPCS Appointed Person (Lifting Operations), CPC transport manager and relevant CSCS cards.
Jamie is responsible for compliance of health & safety, environmental and quality while overseeing our works, ensuring our client's requirements are met in a timely and safe manner.
After graduating with a BSc (Hons) Building Surveying, he gained valuable experience with a construction company in Aberdeen before moving back to Orkney to take up the role of Contracts Manager with Heddle Construction Ltd.
He holds numerous certificates, including an SMSTS certificate, New Road & Streetworks Supervisor card, relevant CSCS cards and first aid at work.
Admin. & Accounts Manager
Diane provides administrative and logistical support to the company.
She is responsible for accounts payable & receivable, payroll, credit control, managing cash flow, staff training and ensuring our health & safety and quality compliance schemes are up to date.
She has worked at Heddle Construction Ltd since 2007, after graduating with a BA in Business Management from Orkney College.
She is an internal auditor for implementing the company's ISO 9001 quality system and has completed an SVQ in Occupational Health & Safety.
Robbie provides valuable support to the management team, including material procurement, technical modelling, and planning lifting operations.
He began working at Heddle Construction Ltd in 2018 as a Graduate Apprentice and graduated with a BSc (Hons) Construction & the Built Environment.
He holds an SMSTS certificate, CPCS Appointed Person (Lifting Operations), New Road & Streetworks Supervisor card, First Aid at Work and is proficient in AutoCAD.
